Many mobile app developers are seeking new and emerging markets globally in which to market their apps. Making these decisions carefully is important, not only to justify the expense of localization, but to ensure the app is the type of app users in that particular region.
One of the ways in which we determine the best regions in which we should localize our apps is looking at the emerging markets. Here at TraductoPro, we want to provide this information so our customers can make intelligent decisions on localizing their apps and where to market them.
Localization Regions: Turkey, Mexico, Brazil, and Russia
Turkey, Mexico, Brazil and Russia are among the top growth regions for mobile applications. Earlier we addressed the importance of localizing for China, Japan, and Brazil. Now we are looking at 2012-13 data and seeking out future growth markets so that we can determine where we need to localize our apps in 2014. These four countries are emerging as the hot spot for mobile app development and localization.
In a report published by Distimo last year, it stated, “Russia, Brazil, Mexico and Turkey are the fastest growing markets in terms of revenues generated in the Apple App Store for iPhone with yearly growth rates that range between 54% and 115%.”
It is likely that these areas will continue to grow when we look at 4Q 2013 data, so localizing your app in each of these languages is going to help drive up app downloads, particularly those free downloads with in-app purchases, which is the preferred business model for these countries.
Localization in South Africa
Some insights are looking at South Africa as an emerging market due to the increase in smartphone penetration. The younger generations are becoming more progressive and political, determined to take part in the rise of economic improvement. This type of movement typically comes with increased adoption of technology, such as the growth we saw in China over the past ten years. Although app purchases and app usage is still relatively low, it is a country to consider for localization. The more apps that become available in a country or their native language, the more popular the concept becomes.
If you have localized your app in any of the above regions, let us know how it turned out by contacting us or commenting here. We all need insight from you, the app developer, to continue seeking out great regions in which to localize our apps and great ways to market them.
